P&E Multilink and Reset Line - Pat Fitzpatrick - Oct 3 11:18:00 2002

Hi Folks,

Does anyone happen to know what the P&E BDM Multilink pod uses to drive the
reset line?

My pod is labelled 1.8V-5.5V Rev B BDM MULTILINK HC12 - 68MC9S12.

The issue is that we're using an MC9S12H256 processor (well, actually
PC9S12H256 for now) with a Motorola MC33989 System Basis Chip for regulators,
watchdog, reset, CAN transceiver, etc. The problem is that the Reset output
from the MC33989 engages in a horrible struggle with the BDM pod (I assume)
for control of the processor during programming. Right now, the processor is
losing.

As a workaround, I've just removed the resistor between the 33989 and the
rest of the reset line which works fine, but we're going to field trials and
I'd like to have the 33989 reset connected.

I can tie the 33989 reset pin to 5 volts during programming (ok per the 33989
data sheet) but I need to size the resistor between the 33989 and the
processor so that the BDM pod can still wiggle the line with the
(effectively) pull-up resistor in place.

Anyone have any good ideas?

Much thanks,

Pat
