Anybody got the Dragon12-Plus yet? looks cool! - Jeff Smith - Jul 3 13:18:35 2007

I was wondering when evbplus.com would come out with another amazing
improvement. And now that it's out, I can say that I'm always
surprised how others cost so much. I think the price makes the most
sense, but I keep thinking how the same number of features would have
costed more than twice as much from other vendors :-O

I started realizing something else, too about Wytec's agenda. It
doesn't really promote all the Freescale fluf (I mainly think of
CodeWarrior). I think Wytec is my kind of company.

Sure I can't afford to buy everything yet though, so has anybody got
the new board yet to see if everything works? I'm excighted about all
the other added features (VGA camera, built-in keypad, RF finally in a
month, temerature sensor, etc.) but I'm also hoping to hook up a bunch
of servos to it. I heard that it is laid out now to accomodate more
power for servos.

I have to say also that it's easier to get information online about
the details. I downloaded the manual, and it's also improved a great deal.

Any other's feedback about how it works?

Wayne at Wytec is incredible. He seems to sell his products almost
below cost. He has a real passion for helping newbies and students
especially.

He's the reason I got involved with the hc12. I was an hc11 user and I
was looking around for a more modern replacement. I was reluctant to
try the hc12 at first, but I eventually saw Wayne's Dragon12
advertised in a magazine. It was so cheap (given the number of gizmos
on the board) that I simply had to try it. I don't understand how a
small company can compete with larger companies in such an effective
manner, but I'm glad we have innovative small companies like Wytec.

I haven't tried his new board yet. I don't know if he started shipping
them yet?

Eric

I got email from Wayne. He's going to be busy shipping to universities
that need to prepare for fall semester. So maybe public orders could
ship in August.

Yes, Wayne definitely has pulled through for education of all kinds.
He's the only one I remember, giving a discount not only to students
who prove they are students, but also has given the same discount to
hobbyists.

I've encouraged my employer and others to buy from evbplus.com
(without discount), because it's still low cost, but does help support
the educational side. Another advantage that I think many business
will see is that they could hire graduates who were trained on the
same boards. I have complained about some products that companies sell
to colledges only because they want graduates pressuring their new
employers to buy the full product at higher price. I've decided that
Wytec is different because of the way that Wayne adds quality, and is
willing to promote all education (meaning also hobby).
