Hello, I need to know how many (in practice) times I can erase and programm the flash of 9S12DP256. TIA Claudio Imberlina |

Claudio, The number of cycles depends greatly on the temperature. At a recent seminar on the 9S12 series they showed a slide that put the number of cycles somewhere around (I don't have my notes handy) 300K-400K at 25 deg C (for < 200ppm failure), and made the comment that the newer parts are even better. A comment was also made that they were starting to show these "practical" figures, rather than just the worst-case guaranteed figure, since some of the competition shows room temp cycles, which when compared to the Mot worst-case figures, makes the Mot parts look bad, when in fact the Mot flash is really superior. Well, has anyone actually worn out the flash on any of these devices yet? (In development conditions that is.) I have a device here, that has been programmed at least 200 times and no problem. Chances are I'll accidentally let the magic smoke out, before I ware it out. Not much, but I hope it helps a little. Peter L.
