Motorola Serial Monitor - deniz_kerimoglu - Jul 24 16:49:11 2008

Hi everyone. I have sampled MC9S12NE64 uc recently and I wonder if
NE64 does have it serial monitor program burned in or a BDM is need to
burn the serial monitor program to NE64. Regards.

Chips coming from Freescale do not have the Serial Monitor loaded.
You will need a BDM pod.

How and where can I find a cheap 3V capable BDM? Thanks for the advice.

You can get a USB based BDM cable from P&E Microcomputer Systems for $99.

How about DEMO9S08QE8? Does it function as a BDM that works with NE64(3V)?

Re: [Policy Patrol SPAM]: Re: Motorola Serial Monitor - will matern - Jul 28 16:56:00 2008

The DEMO9S08QE8 supports only the the QE8.
You should buy a USBMULTILINKBMDE (Freescale part number) or USB-ML-12.(P&E=
part number)

Thanks for the advices. Is there any way that I can burn the Motorola Serial
Mointor program to MC9S12NE64 uc without buying a BDM of any kind? Regards.

[Policy Patrol SPAM]: Re: Motorola Serial Monitor - Daniel Lundin - Sep 3 3:02:02 2008

No, you need a BDM. Believe me, you wouldn't want a serial monitor
even if one was available. To download a program with a BDM takes 10
seconds, serial monitors usually require minutes.

If you are doing both S08 and S12(X) projects, I'd recommend P&E
Cyclone Pro since it can handle both (as well as old HC08 and 68HC12).
