Learning MC68 - a92651delgado - Oct 6 13:28:27 2008

I'm learning the MC68HC12, I have an assignment to translate an
assembly language program into machine language and some machine
language into assembly. Can someone point me to a reference that would
help me to this.
Thanks

The place to start is the manuals. They are all available for
download for free form the Freescale web site. Don't be daunted by
the seemingly huge number - for now there is just one that you care
about, and that's the "CPU12 reference manual". There are several
different versions, depending on what chip you are using. Do a
search on that web site and you shouldn't have any trouble finding
one that will work for you.

That manual will show you the instructions, and how they translate
into binary machine code (and vice versa).

Thanks for the direction. I found the manual for the MC68HC12 on the
freescale site. But I couldn't find the translation information. What
should I be looking for in terms of a heading.

This is exactly what I need to do.

You need to look for opcodes for HC12 to relate assembly instructions to
machine language. It also includes additional useful data about each
assembly instruction.
