I have been tasked to identify all the companies currently using the S12 or S12X.
Freescale will not divulge this information directly.
SimuQuest has developed microcontroller support tools for a few of the S12 and the whole S12X family of chips. These tools are not free. They are specifically for use in the Model Based Development (MBD) of algorithms and autocoding the ECU software. The tool supplies all the drivers for the supported chips as Simulink blocks. The chip is configured via a GUI that prevents incompatible settings by using dynamic consistency checking. The SimuQuest process enables you to integrate all the drivers into the Simulink model, and then generate the entire software code all at once in minutes. There is no need to do any hand coding of drivers, nor is there any need to do any hand integration of logic or drivers with the BIOS. Most human error caused bugs are prevented by our process and tools. Code developed for a prototype ECU can be regenerated for a production ECU in minutes.
SimuQuest customers have documented 85% reduction in effort compared to hand coding everything, but more importantly, 60% reduction in effort compared to the standard MBD process that the MathWorks promotes for Simulink.
Just to be clear, I would use any leads provided by this user group in order to make contact with the Freescale chip users directly. We typically arrange a web based demonstration of the tools and process when we find a good lead. I imagine that some of the user group members currently work for companies that have already purchased the MathWorks tools. These are the people who could benefit the most from a visit to our website. As you know, the high price of the MathWorks tool set is a barrier for most small users. SimuQuest can provide consultative services to program your ECU quickly. We do offer a major discount for academic use of our product. Let me know if you need more information.
