BDM connector - Jared O'Mara - Oct 18 9:53:00 2002

Anyone have a part number for a shrouded 2x3 connector for the BDM pod (PCB
mount). We were using .100 center headers but we want a keyed connector.
Any suggestions are appreciated.

Try Samtec or Amp

We just use the standard Berg header on the board. If we need it keyed, we
chop off a pin, and insert one of those little plastic keying pins into the
female connector. [Since there are unused pins on the header.] -----------------------------------------------

BDM connector - zeeschplitz - Dec 30 15:41:00 2002

the EVB contains a BDM out connector (J22) What is the reason and is
there any usefull what can be done with?

If a suitable version of D-Bug12 is loaded into the EVB's flash memory,
the EVB can function as a BDM host, controlling an HC12/HCS12 target on
another board. In this setup, the BDM out connector on the EVB goes to
the BDM input of the target.

I use a M68HC12B32EVB in this mode to program the boot code onto the 812A4
board I'm working on. The boot code then loads the rest of the firmware.

Re: BDM connector - Oliver Thamm - Dec 30 16:42:00 2002

Hi,

some HC12 EVBs can be used as a BDM pod, provided D-Bug12
(by Gordon Doughman) is running.

A short example of using it is here (German text):
http://www.elektronikladen.de/b32evb.html

Happy HC12ing!

we use

http://www.lumberg.de/Inhalt/Seiten/english/1/Produkt.asp?prod=MICS&cat=111&ran=030

lumberg micromodul series what is small and cheap with 4 and 6 or more
pins available. Can be recommended for BDM and even the Mon08
interface instead of using 10 or 16 pins to fit the P&E cable

Re: Re: BDM connector - Robert Smith - Dec 31 16:50:00 2002

Less than 10 pins may be difficult. I suggest going directly to the
manufacurer's sites.

AMP/TYCO, 3M, CW, etc.

DigiKey has direct links to their sites. Search for suitable 10 pin
connectors and then follow the links.

Good luck, Bob Smith --- Avoid computer viruses, Practice safe hex ---

Re: Re: BDM connector - Kevin Ross - Dec 31 20:01:00 2002

The only source I have ever found for this is the Berg Quickie III series.

The 2x3 connector is part 71600-306
The 2x3 header, which is a latching only, is 71918-106

Both are available from Allied Electric

Check out http://www.alliedelec.com/catalog/catalogpages/2002/302.pdf

Another option is to snip one of the unused pins on the header, and use a
polarization key on your female connector.

I agree that it would have been nice of Motorola would have used a more
'common' part.
