CodeWarrior Upgrade - Bob White - Jan 24 13:32:00 2003

I followed a link Erich posted to the CW website. It got me to wondering if
they have a new release out yet. I couldn't tell from the website because I
don't know what they mean by their version numbers. The CodeWarrior version
seems to have nothing to do with the HiWare tools version.

I downloaded the latest CodeWarrior for HC12 a few months ago, which I filed
in a directory that I named CodeWarrior_MOT_V1.2. The download file was
HC12CodeWarrior.exe, 6/11/02 2:11 PM. This might contain a clue as to what
version I have.

They were working on the next release last I contacted them. Does anybody
know if they have a new release yet?

Thanks,
Bob White

http://www.metrowerks.com/MW/Develop/Embedded/HC12/Default.htm
is the web link to the new release HC12 V2.0.
It's a new major release (featuring ProcessorExpert). Details
as well on the above web page.
From there you have as well the link to download the software.
Similar as for the HC08, there is a free Special Edition license
ready for download (compiler, assembler, debugger/simulator, etc,
see above link).

You downloaded the V1.2 of to tools.

Yes, it is the HC12 V2.0 above.

All I see there is "Special Edition" version.

Does that mean re-registering and re-licensing, or will it pick up my
existing license file??

(I have the full blown $$$$ version, bought about a month ago)

RE: Re: CodeWarrior Upgrade - Erich Styger - Jan 27 10:32:00 2003

You get the special edition license for free.
But you cannot use the Mot V1.2 license for the V2.0 one.

Re: CodeWarrior Upgrade - varneybob - Jan 27 12:14:00 2003

I have a full license for CodeWarrior for HC(S)12 and a 1-yr support
contract. I would assume then, then V2.0 would be a free upgrade?
How do I go about getting the upgrade and appropriate license?

Thanks.

RE: Re: CodeWarrior Upgrade - Erich Styger - Jan 29 12:42:00 2003

This is what I have found out (don't kill the messenger ;-):

"
Customers who already own previous versions of the HC12 tools, and are
currently covered under a technical support agreement, can take advantage of
this new release at a 70% discount off of the MSRP.

Customer who purchased CodeWarrior for HC12, Rev 1.2, within the past 90
days (anytime after October 17th, 2002) are eligible for version 2.0 of the
Standard Edition at no additional charge, as stated in the "New User Support
Agreement".

We will send an email to existing registered users of our HC12 Tools,
letting them know of the new release. Additionally, we will be sending
customers who registered after October 17th, 2002, a CD of CodeWarrior for
HC12, Rev 2.0.
