Antennas for HCS12 - teleko7 - Mar 8 14:30:00 2003

Hi everybody. I´m interested in the development of a low speed
wireless communication system between two HCS12-s. Does somebody know
any antenna(with or withouth associated electronics) for such a
micro??

Iban,

Try www.linxtechnologies.com lots of different types of antennas.
Also Rangestar (I don't know the URL). A good web search ought to do it.
At least 20 companies make radios which you can buy as inexpensive
kits with antennas in almost any band and data rate you want.

I'm developing a full RF network around the 9S12 plus a one-chip radio
transceiver. The antenna issue is easy. Unless you have a difficult
packaging requirement.

There are loads of ready built modules for data communications out there in
the market place.
Depends what you need - distance, one way, half duplex, full duplex, speed,
error correction, etc, etc, and of coarse price! These days you can go
serial data, bluetooth, IEEE 802.11, etc, etc.
The best thing about using a pre-built modules is that they are usually
certified to meet some pretty stringent radio regulations. If you build
your own from scratch then set aside a few $10,000's for testing and
certification to international standards!
Such devices appear in the Circuit Cellar magazine and many other hobby
electronics magazines. They even had a recent article about using mobile
phones to send bi-directional SMS messages between micros!
