For users of the Atmel AT91SAM7 and AT91SAM9 ARM CPU chips. Atmel has taken a new direction by combining on chip flash and ram with the ARM CPU on a single die. This provides low cost devices for small systems using the ARM CPU.
This group is to exchange information to help users get started and learn how to use the devices.
Future AT91SAM9 devices news/roadmap (ie SAM9XE) - justynbutler - Jan 16 0:00:50 2008
Hi,
I've been eagerly waiting for news of AT91SAM9 devices with built-in
flash to pop up. The last I heard was this...
http://www.msc-ge.ch/frame/e/newsletter/atmel/newsletter_18.html
...which promised a SAM9XE sub-family, with flash, based on the
ATSAM9260 in 2007.
Well it's 2008 - does anyone have any more recent news?
Cheers.

Nothing officially released by Atmel. I too asked to our Atmel Field
Eng. and he show me some slides but till no e.s. or any date for
production start (or preliminary data sheet to understand something
about the wait states of the flash).
Seems a bit of vaporware till now.
Best regards
Pietro

My field sales rep stopped by and he gave me a sheet, dated December
'07, that shows the SAM9XE parts as general sampling in Feb'08 and
production in 2Q08.

That's exciting news, thank you.
I wonder if there'll be any other improvements over the AT91SAM9260.
Cheers,
Justyn.
