For users of the Atmel AT91SAM7 and AT91SAM9 ARM CPU chips. Atmel has taken a new direction by combining on chip flash and ram with the ARM CPU on a single die. This provides low cost devices for small systems using the ARM CPU. This group is to exchange information to help users get started and learn how to use the devices.

Require some guidance on choosing colour LCD. - chaitannya - Apr 22 10:34:20 2008

Hello Everyone,

I want to interface a colour LCD with my AT91sam7x256.
I searched for LCD vendor in my country (India) and i found that
these colour LCDs are available

http://americas.kyocera.com/KICC/lcd/specs.html

These are Kyocera LCDs. I want to know.

1. Is there any physical limitation on interfacing this LCD.
2. If anyone has worked on LCD, please let me know which one should i
go for.
3. If these LCDs cannot be interfaced with my chip, then is there any
other alternative. If anyone from India, please can you tell provide
me some leads of the vendors who sell colour LCDs.

Regards,

Chaitannya.

The LCDs you are referring to are STN and/or TFT LCDs. You should look at
the AT91SAM9261 and/or AT91SAM9263 which both have STN/TFT LCD interfaces.

Hey!

I have a development board from Olimex with this microcontroller. It
has a pretty good, and simple colour LCD.
http://www.olimex.com/dev/sam7-ex256.html
The tutorial for this LCD, written by Jim Lynch is very useful.

If you are interested just in the LCD, you can find it at Sparkfun:

I dont know wherther they ship to India, though.
