Hi
I had a problem during startup.
LPC936 does not reset upon power on during startup whenever there is a Mains power failure or
while switch on the device. This happens 2 out of 10 occations.

Dear Rahul,
This is th eproblem of Power On Reset if your Vdd will not drop below 0.2V and again Mains power will on .. then your Vdd cycle is not proper and Program counter will be invalid so controller will not start...
Solution : Desing Power Supply where Voltage will drop immediately..

1) I m using the SMPS power supply, so how can i drop my VDD immediately?
2) I have tested the setup for minimun 30 sec off time but even after that i am not able to solve the problem?
3) is there any LPC936 new version comming with the VDD power cycle problem solved?

YOu can check the with Battery of 3.3V.. and check is your system hangs or not.
Second : you can use P89LPC952 or P89LPC954 which is not having any Vdd Power Cycling issue... You can refer errata sheet for Vdd Power Cycling..
Also if you require sample of P89LPC952 them let me know.. we will support the sample of NXP series..

1) I m Using SMPS with 12V,1A current rating for my application so it is not possible me to test the system on Battery.
2) I have tested the system with linear power supply it is working fine on linear power supply but i need SMPS for my application.
3) we are in the production stage so it is hardly change the microcontroller we want equivalent controller with same number of pins.
4) what is the way to check whether my processor starts or not using any hardware pin like ALE in 8051 ?

Use CAP Free LDO... in Power Supply...
And if your controller will not start all port may be high around 3.4 or 4.5V but behaviour may be erratic...

How about using the MCP809 three terminal processor reset chip. It holds the system in
reset until the power supply reaches 2.9 volts on a 3.3 volt system. See:

regulator. The MCP809 is a uP reset device that keeps the uP in reset until the power

1) Is there any IC which gives me 0V output when my voltage is in the range 2.4V-0.2V and gives 3.3V when my voltage is above 2.4V.

This is th eproblem of Power On Reset if your Vdd will not drop below 0.2V and again Mains power will on .. then your Vdd cycle is not proper and Program counter will be invalid so controller will not start...
Solution : Desing Power Supply where Voltage will drop immediately. .

Hi
I had a problem during startup.
LPC936 does not reset upon power on during startup whenever there is a Mains power failure or
while switch on the device. This happens 2 out of 10 occations.

1) I m using the external RC circuit to reset the LPC936.
2) but my processor always start with power on reset first time.
3) when i m giving the reset pulse by external reset then second time it start with external reset.
4) but i want to reset the processor by external reset at the first time.....
5) please suggest me any idea....
