The Atmel AT90S2313 is in full production (AT90S2323 is out of line).

But the new serie ATMega (8, 16, 32 & 64) is better than the old serie AT90S.

If you it will be initiating a new project, I recommend then that it uses the
ATMega8.

It was just that Elektor Electronics magazine March 2003, had a "AVRee
development system" I showed a copy to someone that knows AVR better
than me, the first thing he said was the ST90S2313 was obsolete and
would be hard to get, maybe he has a crystal ball or just thinking of
the trends.
