Microcontrollers network - alex_seif0024 - Feb 11 15:09:00 2005
I need to design a protocol for a microcontrollers network through
serial communications and connect it to pc.
I already have a plan for the code that was successful, however i
can't seem to get my idea's in a stucture of masters, slaves and
nodes.
So if u can tip me i'll be very grateful

You'll have to give more information than that.
What are you trying to achieve? Why aren't you considering an established
protocol like CAN?

You can use a simple RS485 wired network. Then just use a simple protocol for sending
messages between the master and the slaves. Can your network have one master? I have some
code I wrote in codevision for a RS485 network I was working on.

CAN is a simple and very flexible protocol which connects closely linked
microprocessors with a high speed short messages.
http://www.can-cia.org/ will explain it very well.
ATMEL makes the AT90CAN128 which contains an on chip CAN controller.

thanx for the tip, however I already know about the rs-485.
I have a preety good idea, its just one of those things " I dunno where to
start" or what exactly to do.
however i got a step done ( i think) I'm doing something like a large data acquisition
system for my graduation project.

I, find the CAN thing very efficient however, I'm in egypt specifically alex, and
these things aren't available as often i sometimes have to travel to cairo to get just
atmega 8535 or an lcd.
thanx anyway

FWIW, I do have some 8535's in TQFP that need a home.
I won't be doing any more development with that chip.
