My STK500 cannot work well,tha power is ON,but the led status not on,
before that happen the blink of the led is slowly and in the few=20
second later blinking faster.I also have problem with communication,
the STK cannot communicate with PC,there is an error on the coonction,
i already check the serial but there is no problem with the serial.i=20
also try in other PC,the same problem happen.anyone please help me,
how i can repair my stk.and where i can buy stk500 faster cause i=20
live in surabaya indonesia and need 4 week to buy it,please.thanks.

First off, what power supply are you using for the STK500? Is it the
proper power supply?

What software are you using? Which version of AVR Studio?

I use 1,5 v- 12 volts ,my supply output 12 volts ,
and it's can work well
I also use code vision avr 4
what should I do,any trouble with the supply or the
software?
the led status can't blink
there is 2 regulator on the stk500 ,the output of
first voltage regulator is 5 volts and other which
used to supply the Vtarget is 8 volts,I red the manual
book that output to supply the Vtarget is 5 volts,if I
change the regulator ,is that can solve my problem?

Hello,

I was having the same problem until I upgraded to the current version. As
soon as I installed the upgrade I was able to communicate via the serial
port.

The STK500 user guide says slow blinking is a short on AREF and fast
blinking is a short on VTARGET. Check all jumpers and erase the chip
if possible.
