All those listed at http://www.lancos.com/prog.html haven been proven successful. Most people tend to use the STK200-version for use with a parallel port. But bare in mind that HV-programming is (as far as I know) not possible with ponyprog. Thus watch your osc-fuses when programming.

I personally use either my STK500 (supports also HV-programming) or a AVR910 clone (USB to 10pin ISP) together with AVR-Studio/WinAVR for doing the job.
