Best thing would be to join AVRFreaks http://www.avrfreaks.net and look at
some of the tutorials. Also, download the data sheets from ATMEL
themselves.

If you know much about microcontrollers it shouldn't be difficult to
learn. After having programmed extensively for Z-80, Intel, Motorola and
PIC chips I found AVR programming to be fairly easy to learn.
