A special project with the AVR AT90S8515 - Andrew Ritchie - Dec 18 22:57:00 2002

Hello all,

I'm interested in a project that combines the power of two great
three-letter acronyms, GPS and MP3. Essentially, I'm wanting to build
a portable GPS-linked MP3 player, that plays certain audio files off a
Compact Flash disk at certain geographic locations. Sounds weird, I
know, but it does have a purpose.

Now I'll be the first to admit that I'm not an expert in this field --
far from it, but hopefully I can hack together something that works
fairly well. Two projects that I've seen that incorporate the
AT90S8515 microprocessor that are relevant can be found here:

http://www.circuitcellar.com/dl2001/avr-3rd.htm - a portable GPS
receiver

http://elm-chan.org/works/mpc/report_e.html - a pocklet-sized MP3
player

I guess the ultimate question is whether it would be possible to
combine the two above projects (no need for LCDs, GSM coverage) using
the one microcontroller? I guess I'm worried that there won't be
enough I/O pins on the micro - to interface with the Flash card, the
GPS receiver, a few buttons, a RS-232 serial connection for link-up to
a PC and an audio out (via MP3 decoder and D/A converter).

Anyone got any ideas or suggestions?

Cheers,

Andrew Ritchie

Hello...

I'm new to this area...I'm working on simple project to control appliances through the phone line and i'm trying to send DTMFsignal through the phone line.I designed the interface circuit with the phone line and I have the Ring detection circuit also but my problem is that i want to generate the DTMF signal using teh software not the hard ware and also I'm trying to generate 750 hz frequency inserted in the phone line as answer from the sytem to the user on the other side by using the PWM on the AVR.

pls if any one could help with code to generate PWM or DTMF to send me a mssage..

Thanks
