[AVR club] Winavr or Atmel Studio 6 - philipman2001 - May 14 9:42:51 2012
As a Atmel beginner, which route should I go.
Should I go with Atmel Studio or go the gcc route with winavr?
Appreciate your opinions?

I thought atmel studio used the gcc compiler anyway (or atmels version of
it).
Â
Winavr is just a windows installable collection of the GCC toolset for atmel
devices. Atmel studio 6 has a lot in it including support for the atmel cortex
processors.
Â
The Winavr installation has a decent ide with Programmers notepad
although you will have to do a little reading up on make files.
Â
Must admit i prefer the lighter winavr as opposed to atmel studio, atmel studio
is a big download.
Â
Regards

When I started out with AVR CodeVision provided much needed help. I haven't used
it for several years not. That is because I do almost all my AVR development in
Linux Ubuntu.
