Programming life? - snaresystems - Jun 2 16:55:00 2000
Hey everyone,

I was wondering if these AVR
devices have a programming life to them. I've had an
AT90S8515 for a few months now and have put it through a
lot of reprogramming. But I've now noticed that it
becomes "dead" at start up. In a sense it won't go into
it's program, instead it kinda floats around for a
while. From that every now and then it will "wake up"
and start to work. Somestimes it can be woke up by
pressing the port D buttons. (stk200) And to top it off,
it will always work after actually programming it
via ATMELISP... anyways. Should I expect to be able
to program these chips for X number of times before
I actually start to burn away their life?

Thank you for your insights,
Nathan B.

If you take a look at the datasheet of the 8515
controller, you'll find that it has an endurance of 1000
write/erase cycles. If you think you have programmed it that
much, it could be possible that controller stops
working properly!

Markus
