Reset (?) trouble with the AT90S2313 - sjoerdoptland - May 8 17:45:00 2003

Hello all,

Although I'm very new here and haven't got time to listen what's
going on here I will pose my question, and I hope you'll forgive me
and take a little while to answer. Thanks a lot.

I built the MiniDMX interface of Mathias Dzionsko (1, see below)and
tried to program it with blinktest.flash (2). BTW, I programmed the
2313 with the fa1fb programmer (3), so not in-system. The programming
seemed to work (verification OK). Then I put the 2313 in the system
and powered-on.

The behavior of the circuit was very strange. It should blink the 3
LEDs subsequently, but there sometimes was one on, sometimes not,
anyway, after the starting situation it wouldn't go on; the processor
got 'stuck'. One other remark: when I pulled out and plugged in the
wall-wart adapter subsequently quick, the processor would sometimes
go to the next 'step' in blinking the LEDs...

Strange, or am I missing something obvious?

Hi Sjoerd,

Would you like to tell us about the reason for the problems (I do not
want to die as a stupid man).

Kind regards,

Klaus

A very good motive ;-). Actually it was something quite trivial: the
processor stopped eating instructions because the Xtal wasn't soldered
properly. I already checked it once, but only the second time the problem
showed up...
