64K EEPROM - Scott B. - Jan 27 21:51:00 2003

Hello! Does anyone know if the BasicX-35 supports 64K SPI EEPROM?
(For example, the Microchip 25LC640.) Thank you very much!

That's 64 K-BITS not KB.

[Writing message while smacking self on forehead]

Oh, duh! I guess my brain was temporarily disengaged. Thanks for
clarifying, though! I almost just ordered 8KB, not 32KB!

On a side note, does anybody know of any manufacturers that produce a
SPI EEPROM chip with a greater than 32KB capacity? If not, would
such a device even be possible within the constraints of the SPI
interface?

Atmel AT25HP512 is 64KB.

RE: 64K EEPROM - Harry J. White - Jan 28 8:32:00 2003

I havn't used a SPI chip but I have used a I2c chip that works well.
Catalyst 24WC64PI. I actually used a larger version but they work the same
and they come in an 8pin dip. You can also gang eight of them together to
increase capacity.
