Win XP and serial? - Jeff Smith - May 21 8:40:00 2003

Does BasicX run on Win XP?
I've heard of troubles people have had with new very fast machines
having serial problems; any experiance with such a problem?

I'm looking at getting a laptop and want to make sure my BasicX work
is compatible.

Thanks,
Jeff Smith

I'm using BasicX on a Dell 1.8 GHz running XP Pro. Also use a USB to Serial
hub to get the extra serial ports I need. Emil At 09:40 AM 05/21/2003, you wrote:

I am running a 500 mhz dell with windows 2000 professional and I have
been having problems downloading to the basicx. I can reset my serial
port and that will solve the problem for a while. Everything else
runs ok though on these ports.

Could you be more specific? What kinds of problems are you seeing?

What version of the compiler are you using?

Thank you everyone for the comments.

I have also had a problem with the downloader but only on the 2.1
beta; closing the com port and reopening it solves the problem for a
little while but it will eventually return. The downloader will
occationally halt just before the download. I'm running a desktop
W98se.
