Sharp GP2D120 IR Sensor - shafeez22 - Jan 17 20:54:00 2005

Hey guys I was wondering if any of you know anything about this
sensor?"Sharp GP2D120 IR Sensor"? Does this sensor also help avoid
other robots on field or not? Because we need a sensor that would
avoid hitting other robots on playing field? Thanks
Shah

RE: Sharp GP2D120 IR Sensor - Derek Cowburn - Jan 17 22:40:00 2005

Shah,
The GP2D120 or other reflective distance sensors is good in that
application. It looks at where the reflection appears on a linear
sensor in the receiving end to determine the distance. Be sure to buy
the right sensor for the distance range you need to measure. Also, some
will read a long distance when something is very close so be sure to
check the response curves in the docs and place the sensor so nothing
can appear in that indeterminate range.
