NetMedia Forum - tombhandley - Apr 2 17:58:00 2005

Is there any chance of NetMedia hosting a forum using more popular
software instead of Yahoo? The basic problem with this idea is that it
will require a very dedicated moderator who does not get payed...

Just a thought... I never liked Yahoo forums and I've only see it go
down hill recently... There are so many folks from novice to
professional here and I think we need a new forum with NetMedia's
support. Again, just a thought... Chris?

I have seen similar requests in other Yahoo groups. Often, this
suggestion raises vociferous opposition from some who don't like the
"forum" format (InfoPop, phpBB, etc.). I haven't looked into this
much but the basic complaint of the forum format is that it sometimes
isn't (or perhaps can't be) set up so that people can get messages
individually by email or in digests.

Do you have a particular message board software package in mind?

You may be aware that Parallax moved the BasicStamp groups away from
Yahoo several months ago. They're using a dotNetBB forum now.

Don, I'm no expert at forum software. I guess I'm just a little
frustrated at the message formatting with the embedded Ad. I don't
mind going through an Ad to get to a message, but when it's embedded
in my message and screws up the formatting, it seems a bit much...
Since it's a free service I guess I can't complain...
