newbie/bx-24 won't halt - cc0x1 - Aug 3 5:39:00 2005

hi,

i just got a bx-24. when i run the downloader/editor and try to reset
the module or compile and run my own program, i get the same error -
the downloader can't halt the bx-24. i don't have the development
board so before i connect my own reset button is there something i
could be doing wrong or something else i could try?

thanks,
carlos

You need all 4 wires (pin 1 through 4) connected correctly to the PC for
downloads to work correctly. First look at the ground wire (pin 4 on the
BX-24) and then look at ATN (pin 3 on the BX-24). Are you using a null
modem cable which will swap the wires around for example?

You can use F4 to compile only without a download. That should work for
you. F5 does a compile and download in one step which what you are
probably doing.

Did you download and read the documentation?

Mike

Hi Mike,

I'm defeinitely not using a null modem cable and have read the
documentation extensively (but will continue readind). The serial
cable is connected to pins 1 through 4 on the bx-24. It all seems
pretty basic. Unless the serial cable is bad (which is doubtful as it
is a brand new cable) I don't know what else it could be.

Does the factory program run i.e do the 2 leds blink and do u get any
screen output.
Try turning the bx24 power on AFTER the download has started and the "
retry" message appears.

Re: newbie/bx-24 won't halt - cc0x1 - Aug 3 21:59:00 2005

thanks neil. turning the power on after the download started did the
trick. to answer your first question, yes the factory program was
running, and i'm guessing that was the problem.
