servo got stuck - Michael Krause - Oct 3 19:45:29 2006
Hi there,
I have a problem with my servo (Hitec HS-815BB). It used to work just
fine. Then I switched off BX-24, and when I switched it on again, the
command line of the servo must have been logic high. The servo made a
long movement to the end of its range, and ever since cannot be
commanded into any other positions.
Does anybody know what to do in such a situation? Can the servo be
rescued?
Thanks,
-Michael

There is only 2 problems that I can think of. Electrical or mechanical.
Could be a bad gear.
Bad motor.
Bad circuit board.
Also it could be stuck on the hard stop.=20=20

Most of the time you will need to take it apart to see if any gears are b=
ad or see if something is burned out.=20=20=20

If the circuits are burned out and the motor is fine. Then just save wha=
ts left for a geared motor for another project.

Hi Michael,
if the servo is stuck (can not be moved by hand) when all the power
is turned off, then you have a mechanical problem. If that is the
case then it sounds that mechanical stop on the output shaft is stuck
(perhaps the logic hi gave it enough momentum to cuase it to get
stuck when it reached the maximum angle). You might be able to free
it back to the proper range if you take the servo apart.

Hi Sami,
THanks for your response. THe servo is back on track. It could
still be moved by hand when the power was off. I took it apart,
checked all the gears, put it back together, and it worked again.
Thanks for your input.
