2 X 16 LCD will not show text - hamk7fj - May 30 20:41:08 2007
A new 2 X 16 LCD lights up and seems to accept and process control
codes for backlight and cpu reset but every attempt to send normal text
fails. I can see the bits arriving at the LCD with a scope. I have
copied sample software from web site. All settings are default (9600,
reverse logic, etc). I am using pin 13 of the BX-24 to drive the LCD
and have checked voltage level at the LCD as 5.15 volts.
I have used the BX-24 with serial LCD's before (a parallax LCD,
actually) with no problems. Am I missing something here?

I assume you mean you see nothing on the LCD. Contrast?

PROBLEM SOLVED! It was caused by the contrast pot turned all the way
down.

After turning on the backlight it glows like it should with no characters but when the
same command is used to send text the screen remains blank.
I can turn the backlight on and off as described in the manual and when I send a 'reset'
command the lcd does reboot but when sending a text letter nothing happens. I have set
contrast to 255 with no effect.
