Uploading programs via USB - "kit...@freemail.gr" - Nov 20 0:42:36 2007

Try the NetMedia Site http://www.basicx.com/ $ 19.00

Or Google for USB to Serial Converter

Hello. I was shopping for a new computer, and I noticed they don't
come with a serial port anymore. Surely, someone has figured out how
to use the USB port to upload programs to the BasicX-24. Could you
please refer me to a URL where I can read about how to do this? Thank
you.

Well Nathan,
I'm using the prop-plug from Parallax for the same problem, with a
simple mod that is used for the zBasic

http://www.parallax.com/Store/Microcontrollers/BASICStampModules/tabid/134/List/1/ProductID/398/Default.aspx?txtSearch=prop+plug&SortField=ProductName%2cProductName

The mod is taking off the capacitor next to the transistor and
putting in a 150 ohm resistor and soldering it in the same way as in the pics.

Thank you both for your help. For me, the parallax device might be the
better solution, because I'm already using a 4-pin header on my proto
board. Do you know if the Parallax driver will work with the BasicX
compiler software?

No, all you will need is the drivers from FTDI. Then it will just appear as
a normal COM port that the BasicX will use.
