Serial Communication Help Need - Giuliano Taddeo - Mar 17 10:24:10 2008
Great Guru's,
I'm trying to test a serial connection between a BasicX24 and a PC-Hyperterminal.
I'm using a max232 as RS232 Interface but nothing is shown on the hyperterminal! Tryed to
hook up the scope on pin 14 (max232 t1out) and what I see is just a positive square
waveform pattern; I guss the negative side of the waveeform is missing.. By cheching on
pin 2 and 6 I get +8.50V and -8.50V so looks fine havin' pin 16 with pin 21 of BasicX24
(5V) .
Anybody of you guys has a suggestion for me?
Thanks in advance

Hi,
Double check your connections. My computer using Hyper terminal show at the BX24 pin 1,
reads zero pin 2 read -9.5 and pin 3 reads -9.5 and pin 4 is ground. Sometime you have to
jump 4 and 5 together and 8? and 20 also at the computer end. If not the port can get
locked. If you do not use these pins you should jumper together. Normal practices when
connecting communications devices.

Guru's,
I got it done!!
Was using the wrong cable(had to use a null modem to go directly in the computer) and a
condenser was upside down.
Now everything is working just fine.
thanks Rosarite for your support.
