Basicx-24 Developer kit - luckmunemo - Aug 12 13:34:57 2009

Hi Everyone

I just bought a Basicx-24 development kit and tried to test it following the manual which comes with it . My problem is the manual assumes that Im using a Desktop pc but Im using a laptop which doesnt have a DB-9 socket so im using a USB-to-Serial cable . Im failing to test the kit because i keep gettin a msg that there is no communication between the laptop and the chip on the BXK24 board. Please help Im stuck on this n I need to get started as soon as possible.

Thanx in advance

xx

This is also how I connect. I use a Radio Shack branded USB-Serial
adapter. I have no idea what chipset it actually uses.

If my experience is any indication you'll have to do two things:
1) Download and install a driver for the USB/Serial adapter.
2) Configure the downloader application:
a) plug in your adapter
b) Launch the BasicX Downloader app (quit it and relaunch it if it's
running)
c) Choose Monitor Port from the I/O Ports menu and specify the port
you wish to monitor (my adapter defaults to 4). Open the port.
d) Choose Download Port from the I/O Ports menu and specify the port
you wish to use to download (I use 4 for this as well). Open the port.

You should be all set to go. If the Open Port operations work out
then that's a pretty good indication that things will work.

These instructions may be a bit off from the actual names of things in
the Downloader application. I'm writing this from memory while using
a different machine.

Good luck!

This is also how I connect. I use a Radio Shack branded USB-Serial=20
adapter. I have no idea what chipset it actually uses.

If my experience is any indication you'll have to do two things:
1) Download and install a driver for the USB/Serial adapter.
2) Configure the downloader application:
a) plug in your adapter
b) Launch the BasicX Downloader app (quit it and relaunch it if it's=20
running)
c) Choose Monitor Port from the I/O Ports menu and specify the port=20
you wish to monitor (my adapter defaults to 4). Open the port.
d) Choose Download Port from the I/O Ports menu and specify the port=20
you wish to use to download (I use 4 for this as well). Open the port.

You should be all set to go. If the Open Port operations work out=20
then that's a pretty good indication that things will work.

These instructions may be a bit off from the actual names of things in=20
the Downloader application. I'm writing this from memory while using=20

Good luck!
