About this Rocket Acceleration ... - Jeff Daniels - Jun 10 1:51:00 2000

Thanks to all you guys who have been coming forth with help and ideas
for my project!

The current use for the ADXL is to tell the BasicX when the liftoff
of the rocket occurs, so the BasicX can start commanding a 35mm camera
to take photos according to a pre-defined pattern. e.g. Wait 5
seconds, take 3 shots 1 second apart, then wait 10 seconds, take 20
shots, etc.

So the 2G version is great for this application. But now that I see
how easy these things are to work with, I have plans to use the 50G
version to sample and store the acceleration for the entire flight.

I'm trying to get this gizmo and the rocket finished in time to take
them to LDRS in South Carolina July 1-4. LDRS = Large Dangerous
Rocket Ships. Check out last year's LDRS at http://www.ldrs99.org/ to
see what I like to do in my spare time with my spare money.

Wish me luck - I'll let all you gurus know of my successes and
failures when I get back, and (I hope) post some pictures of South
Carolina from 3000 feet up.

Thanks again!

Jeff, you may find this link interesting. He's using the ADXL (and an
altimeter) with a radio telemetry system on his rocket...also has a photo
taking setup.

Thanks, Duncan - that is interesting. Lots more info that I won't
have to dig up myself.
