I have been working with the ADXL202 acelerometer for a while and finally seemed to have tamed it to my satisfaction. I have been using the ADXL202EB for my experiments. I do not like the connector that the EB uses and have drafted up a PCB so that I can have the ADXL my way. BUT, and there is always a but, to buy small quantities of the ADXL202 IC is not cost effective. The distributors that findchips.com finds want at least $30 for the critter. This is what Crossbow gets for the EB. Where can I get these critters in 1-10 units for less money. Any suggestions would be appreciated. I think in order to get it for less money, you'll have to buy just the bare chip, which if I recall correctly in single quantities is about $20. Personally, I think the extra $10 is definitely worth the not having to worry about surface-mount soldering the thing... The EB units are sold at a loss (or at least cost), encouraging engineers to experiment with them. I don't know of any place to get the '202s for cheaper at that quantity. Last time I checked, the EB unit was actually a dollar or two less than the stand-alone chip. -- Gordon At 07:07 AM 7/19/2000 -0400, you wrote: >I have been working with the ADXL202 acelerometer for a while and finally >seemed to have tamed it to my satisfaction. I don't know of any place to get the Can anybody recommend a supplier of ADXL202EB who is prepared to ship to the UK? Analog Devices won't, and the only UK suppliers I've found charge approx the equivalent of US$150 which is just not reasonable :-( Ray Barnett. |

Try here (most, if not all, are US based distributors, and many will ship outside the US). http://www.findchips.com/ The $150 price may be for the RS-232 version of the evaluation board. That would be about right, considering export duties, etc. Be sure to specify the non RS-232 version. -- Gordon At 04:22 PM 7/19/2000 +0100, you wrote: >> The EB units are sold at a loss (or at least cost), >> encouraging engineers >> to experiment with them.
