EEPROM chip replacement - Author Unknown - Jul 20 15:51:00 2001

Hey,

I have some questions, any help would be greatly appreciated

1.What chips can be used to replace the EEPROM chip on the BX-24?
The chip part # that I can see is the AT25256W, but I can't find
that, only the AT25256 in different flavors/packages, with the
closest one being the 8 pin gull wing AT25256 from atmel. Is that the
same chip?

2. Are there any problems with changing the the chip? i.e what
happenes to the OS? is that burned onto the same chip? or is it
flashed to the EEprom from the compiler whenever you download a
program?

3. I read an earlier post about using FRAM instead of EEPROM? Any
thoughts about this? Is it a viable alternative? are there any
timing/voltage issues etc.?

Thanks,
-Jit
