Can't help with the "techy" questions, I _do_ have one, just haven't had the time to play with it! >Also, I find it annoying the way NetMedia puts "$29.95" all over the place >on the SitePlayer website...I just found out a few minutes ago, it's really >$99.95. Nope. $99.95 for the full development kit. If you just want the siteplayer module itself, that's $29.95. Sure, it probably doesn't cost $70 to make the baseboard with the breakout stuff on it, but then they package it all up with cables etc. etc. But all that's on the dev. board is the 10baseT magnetics, a regulated power supply, and a DB9 connector (possibly also a max transceiver?). If you were bedding a siteplayer into your existing product, you'd likely put those extras on your own PCB, and plonk the siteplayer right down on it. In case you hadn't guess, the siteplayer's not _really_ aimed at the hobby market. Look at the quantity price breaks, and you'll see what I mean. >I initially went there, saw $29.95, and assumed that was the price >for what was pictured. You believed an advert on the Internet? Shame on you!! >Now that I read deeper, I realize it's really $99.95 >unless I want to do massive work myself Massive? Gee, a bit of veroboard, a few connectors, maybe a max chip, and a regulator... If that's "massive" work, you probably better give up now! BTW: the 10baseT interface is all in the RJ connector, the magnetics are built in! >Does the SPK1 come with a SitePlayer? Yep. David.
