ADC Speed and serial question and... - Philippe Jadin - Jan 10 4:53:00 2000

Hello!

I intend to buy a basicx24, and I'd like to know how many adc
conversions per second to expect for the eight channels. It would be
perfect if I could read the eight channel 1000 times per second. Am i
dreaming?

Another question : can I setup exotic baud rates for serial transfer?
I'd like to generate midi-out signal with the basicX. Here are the midi
specs :

"The MIDI data stream is a unidirectional asynchronous bit stream at
31.25 Kbits/sec. with 10 bits transmitted per byte (a start bit, 8 data
bits, and one stop bit)." (this sounds not very good for me, as I don't
understand some of the words used here, so I'd like to know if it's easy
to set up or not...)

Is it possible to do that with the basicx?

And a last question : I live in Europe (Belgium) and I'd like to order a
basicX. Is it better to order it trough netmedia, or have the
development kit from phanderson.com? Anyone has experience ordering
outside US? Thanks !

days or 7 working days. The EMS box package was
damaged in transit (a big hole on the backside) but
since they put the small chip in a VERY large
container, the chip appears to be unharmed :). Can't
say the same if it was airmailed. It all depends on
your local mail system and luck too.

All my other airmail package such as sample chips from
US appears to be ROUGH-handled too. That's why I
prefer a safe insured transfer if I'm ordering
something expensive. Just imagine putting all those
packages tightly sealed in the cargo of the aircraft
with all sorts of other things and you'll get the
picture. I'll say that delivery will arrive 99% but
50% of them will have damaged packaging.

For a single channel, the maximum sample rate is about 6 k sample/s.

For 8 channels, that's 6/8 k = 750 sample/s maximum.
