May I make a comment on the existing Insight Spartan2-100 development
board? I think it's great that the board has four 40-pin I/O headers.
This lets me use standard ATAPI (IDE) cables to transport I/Os to a
breadboard.

But...nowadays PCs are moving to the ATA/66 (and ATA/100) standard,
and the connectors on ATA/66 cables have one pin filled in (omitted.)
To the best of my knowledge, this pin wasn't used in the original ATA
interface. Nevertheless, cable makers suddenly decided to physically
remove the unused signal line from ATA/66 cables, too.

Do you think later revisions of the Spartan2-100 board be modified for
compatibility with UATA/66 cables? You could move the displaced I/O
lines elsewhere on the board, since there's plenty of space.

Being able to use "off the shelf" IDE cables with the Insight board is
a great advantage.
