This list is for discussion of the design and implementation of field-programmable gate array based processors and integrated systems. It is also for discussion and community support of the XSOC Project (see http://www.fpgacpu.org/xsoc).

about fpga-cpu (recurring message) - Jan Gray - Aug 1 9:28:00 2005

I wish to remind our members that messages to this list should be (at least
tangentially) on the subject of COMPUTER DESIGN and COMPUTER ARCHITECTURE
using FPGAs. (The more you play up the processor design angle, the more
interested the rest of us will be.) Peripheral interfacing discussions (how
do I implement IDE?) are most welcome, as are software and tools discussions
pertaining to computer implementation.

Thanks.
Jan.

-----

This is a recurring message on the proper care and feeding of the fpga-cpu
list.

1. Charter and Staying On Topic

"This list is for discussion of the design and implementation of
field-programmable gate array based processors and integrated systems."

This list has >1100 subscribers. Be considerate of their time
and attention, and help to keep the list friendly, fresh, interesting,
relevant, and useful, by staying on topic.

Take any off-topic or "unlikely to be of general interest" discussions
to another forum such as Usenet (e.g. newsgroup comp.arch.fpga) or
private email.

2. Advertising

Brief announcements of new products, web sites, etc. are most welcome,
if and only if they pertain to the list charter. Please, no recruiting
ads or resumes.

3. Moderation

By default, new members' posts are moderated. This proved necessary to
preclude spam and off-topic newbie messages to the list. This initial
moderation can lead to posting delays (sometimes a couple of days) while
I review the new member's first post. If the first post is on-topic
(and is not spam) I will manually unmoderate the member.

On rare occasions (notably recruiting ads) members who do not respect
the list charter may find their posting privileges changed to
'moderated'. Such members are still welcome and encouraged to
contribute (on topic) information, but subsequent off-topic posts will
be rejected.

4. Attachments

The mailing list software does not pass attachments.

5. Digest option

An fpga-cpu subscriber may elect to receive a daily message digest
instead of a separate message per message sent. First, register at
www.groups.yahoo.com then visit the Subscribe link at
www.groups.yahoo.com/group/fpga-cpu, then subscribe or modify your
subscription, selecting the 'digest' message delivery option.

6. Unsubscribe me!

As the last line of every message says, "To Unsubscribe, send a blank
message to: fpga-cpu-unsubscribe@fpga.... If you have any comments about the list, good or bad, or any
suggestions, write me directly and I'll see what I can do.

Thank you all for your interesting and helpful contributions.
