Hi,
is the M68HC11 compatible with M68HC05 regarding the instruction set
and the SCI? I mean if i have a working M68HC05 system, will it work
also if i change the HC05 with HC11?=20
Thanks

No, the registers and opcodes are all different.

I made a mistake, it's about M68HC08. Are these two compatible?

No, it is also different and unique.

Steve --

As I understand it the intended upgrade path for the HC05 is the HC08
where there is a high degree of compatibility.
I seem to recall that there are some upgrade notes at the FS web site.

Best wishes,

Bob Smith

First of all, i would like to apologize for my mistake. I wasn't reffer=
ing to the M68HC05 but to M68HC08. I looked over the datasheets and there a=
re minor changes in the SCI, like the registers' names and names of bits, b=
ut overall they're quite similar.
Thanks for all the answers.

Thanks, Bob.

I was just providing an obvious answer in a literal context: That the
program written for one won't drop into the other without running it
through the respective assembler, and making other possible changes to the
program for the cpu differences.

Have a nice day!

Steve
