LPC2000 RS232/UART broadcasting - marks1865 - Aug 19 7:03:49 2008
morning,
I've an RS232 device (PC) that I want it to be able to broadcast
messages to several ARM7 devices. It's only one way messages; I'm not
interested in having the ARM7 send back data.
After I convert the RS232 back to TTL (eg MAX232 device) on the ARM7
side, can I simply wire the MAX232 Tx pin to all ARM7 UARTS Rx pins and
have them all receive the broadcast message (ie multi drop style?)
Ok, I might need a bit of glue to connect the MAX232 device, but I
guess that depends on the RS232/TTL converter chip and its Tx fanout?
ie
[RS232 Device]--->----[RS232/TTL Converter]->-+----+----+

Rx Rx Rx
ARM7 ARM7 ARM7
cheers
Mark

I even made ad hoc networks on a game console (Atari Lynx if someone
remembers) like this.
