Hi Richard, Don't let it get to you. Some people are irrational and there is not much you can do about it. Bob Furber > Wow. My signature line is a SPAM? Richard, As I read it, the objection was not about your signature (per se). It was the fact that you have been sending out "test messages" over the last couple of days (I've had two), which contain nothing - except an advert for your mailing list. Personally, I think Motorola are right to object (but that's just my view). Overall, I'm no saint, and I've advertised a couple of times on various lists. When I've done so, I've been "stamped on" (rightly). I'm sure your compiler is great. Well, my books are great too - and I'm sure everyone else on the list could promote some of their products. Problem is, if we all did so, the list just wouldn't work any more. It's not a question of "censorship", or "free speech"; it's a question of good manners - and common sense. End of sermon. I'll shut up now. Best wishes, Michael. > From: "Richard F. Man" <> > Date: 2002/09/27 Fri PM 03:37:17 GMT > To: > Subject: [m68HC11] Fwd: 800 lbs gorilla moves? > > Wow. My signature line is a SPAM? At 05:19 PM 9/27/2002 +0000, you wrote: >Richard, > >As I read it, the objection was not about your signature (per se). Personally, I think Motorola are right to object >(but that's just my view). If you read the .sig, it is clear that we have an email server crash (yea, yea, my fault for not backing it up). Yahoogroups have been insisting that I don't belong in any of the groups and refused to send us group mail. Why do you think I was sending the "TEST, PLEASE IGNORE" msg, except to test that I am actually receiving email? And if you read the forwarded mail, it is my old sig that was in question. And the only reason I don't have the sig right now is because I don't want to give them a reason to block this email. It will be a cold day in h*ll that I will change my sig otherwise. I don't know much about microcontroller HW, but I know quite a bit about C. In the last 8 years, I have answered numerous questions about our products, and about generic C questions, or anything that I feel I have something valuable to contribute. I hope Yahopgroups start to bounce other people's email and see how you'd like it when you don't know the list is alive or dead. |

Hi all, This is the moderator for this group. I normally do not like to post messages to the group that do not directly relate to questions but there is lots of miscommunication on this one. Please be aware that I have no objections to people that have "signature" advertising in their emails. I think Michael summed up my thoughts very good. I always try to do this in private (I send email directly to the person) and ask that any responses / questions to this subject be sent directly to me at my email address ( <mailto:> ). Michael, Richard and everybody there: I agree with Michael entirely. I am personally not offended by any "list pertinent" advertisement. I also think that Mr. Richard Man (as anybody with a healthy spirit for the list) is a very valuable member. In my opinion is..."to be or not to be" . Should we all advertise or not ? We could perhaps allow some "soft advertisement policy" or create a seperate spam-full list. Nothing really personal, just the rules.
