How to tell what version of IAR I am running? - lslonim2 - Jun 26 17:43:55 2008
Anders,
A lot of people use IAR tools who write to this board, so this seems
an appropriate question. When I do Help->About in my IAR environment,
there are about fifty entries that cover various parts of the system,
quite a few of which have MSP430 in their name.
I just got an email from IAR that starts out "Support for MSP430x5xx
Version 4.11 of IAR Embedded Workbench for MSP430 includes...". How do
I know what the overall rev level of my IDE is? Which of the files
does this refer to? Or is there a different way to check the rev?
I'm very happy with the tools by the way, I use them for MSP430 and
ARM Bluestreak.

Hi lslonim!
Basically, we have two major version number series, one for the IDE
(currently 5) and one for the MSP430-specific package. In addition to
those, lots of the third-party components have versions of their own.
To find the specific version you are using (e.g. 4.11A) you can look at
one of the MSP430-specific components, like to compiler or the component
named "IAR Workbench Target Descriptor for MSP430".
