Hello, is it possible to program a msp430f5438 using the ez430 usb programm=
er? , properly connected to the respective Spy biwire pins =C2=A0or there i=
s some incompatibility, anybody knows if there is a problem with this new m=
icro which is also =C2=A0spw compatible.Because I have the ez430 used with =
the F2xx and=C2=A0 I wanted to try with F5438.
Thanks to all.

I have been programming the XSP430F5438 with the USB FET430UIF over the
Spy-BI-Wire interface for a couple of months now. The XSP device is the
prototype silicon that TI have been sending out as samples since June.
There are, as you would expect for prototype silicon, a number of hardware
bugs that you have to be a bit careful of, but for the most part porting to
this device has been relatively pain free.

options page is the XSP device and not the MSP430F5438. You must have
version 4.11 of the tools (latest is 4.11E I think) and there was a mistake
in the device file that stops C-spy from giving read/write access to the
peripheral device registers. I cannot remember exactly where the problem
was but there was an incorrect address range specified. I can find the
details of this tomorrow.

Hello!
I wanted to try the same thing, but I have just been told by TI (Japan) tha=
t it is
not compatible. I have no further detail.

You can use FET430UIF.
Hardware wise, eZ430U should have worked. But it does not. This is due
to either the DLL inside PC or the firmware inside eZ430U.
