current sinking/sourcing capacity of MSP430 - mynameispranay - Jul 10 4:53:32 2009

Hi guys,
I wanted to confirm if the current sourcing and sinking capacity of MSP430 series is just 2mA or not?
M asking this as i read in the MSP430F169's data sheet that the maximum current cap is just 2mA (which I feel is very less)

Kindly reply,

Regards,

2mA is the allowed limit for protection diodes that exist in almost every package
pin.
6mA would be the allowed current for sink or source, per pin, for a given voltage
drop. There is a maximum current per device so not all I/O pins can sink or source
6mA at same time.
Read the data sheet thoroughly.
