When the PIC did show-up in the market (a century ago) and I saw it=C2=B4s =
architecture the exactly first
thing I thought was to use thousands of it interconnected to make a neural =
network. AtTiny was the
second candidate but still power consumption too high.
When MSP430 rised the necessary techonology seesm to be in place. Self-prog=
rammability (most
important feature after low power), analog I/O, good precision internal osc=
ilator, good amount of
FLASH and SRAM are the key for a smart neural network. Now make it in a sha=
pe that one can throw
them loose in a can and they connect to each other with sensing, communicat=
ion and power.
Maybe we can see real thinking toys before we die..
Cheers,
Augusto
BTW, I=C2=B4d like to see Clarke's Chilhood's End on big screen but not mad=
e by Holywood's pop-corn sales
people. They already burned to ashes the Time Machine, The Day Earth Stood =
Still and War of the
Worlds... The old 60's ones are still much much much better.

Hi Augusto,
Too right !
I guess we can just wait for Hollywood to bugger up other greats such as
"Them!" (The huge ants).
.. Or what about Jack Arnold's Chef D'Oeuvre, "The Incredible Shrinking
Man" ? (announced for 2010).
And it's the '80s as well...
Magnum PI in 2011.... That'll be another joke I'm sure....

Re: OT - Re: And Now for something completely different : Attack of the Clones - Tony Rudzki - Aug 14 12:05:23 2009
There are a TON of Monster movies made in the 50's involving all sorts of
insects that could be redone... Back then we were blaming nuclear testing,
but I guess now, we'll have to blame the giant praying mantis on either
global warming or "man polluting the planet"
And what IS hollywoods facination with taking so-so TV shows, which ran
multiple seasons, and making movies out of them? Dukes of Hazzard? Brady
bunch?
Good movies =3D theatre & DVD sales.... Bad Movies =3D Loss of money......i=
ts
not hard.
