Working with MSP430F5435 - Alesandro Correa - Aug 31 0:53:26 2009
Hi all,
I=B4m working with MSP430F5435 and have a problem when I will donwload the =
firmware in MSP430, the FET return with message: "No device found".
Worked before with other devices the same family 5xx without problems.
This model "F5435" has some difference?

Have you checked the devices supported by your FET tool? You don't mention =
what you're using.
Have you checked for the latest firmware and driver?=20

Still can not solve te problem yet.
Anyone have any opinion on this issue?
Tested with another program (Code Composer), but did not work either. Teste=
d five differents components, all have the same problem.

Now's a chance to put debugging skills to work. Figure out a list of
what has changed between the setup that worked and the setup that
doesn't. You've done a few things - trying different 'F5435 chips
strongly indicates that the issue is not with an individual chip being
fried. Changing to a different debugger/IDE may indicate that it's not
a problem with that particular part of the system, but you didn't say
whether you tried Code Composer with the other 'F5xxx parts that
worked with your original IDE. In any case, the IDE and the FET tool
aren't one and the same, so you'll have to vet individual pieces of
your system.
Does any of the other hardware change when you try the 'F5435 as
opposed to the other 'F5xxx family parts? Cables, PCBA other than the
micro, etc.? What other 'F5xxx parts have you used? Not all of the
'F5xxx parts have the same pin designations.
Have you scoped the JTAG pins while trying to connect the debugger or
flash the device in both the successful and unsuccessful cases? That
might show you differences that lead you towards the root problem.
And, you haven't said anything regarding Michael's
questions/suggestions. What FET tool are you using? Have you confirmed
that the tool supports the 'F5435? You say you tried Code Composer -
which version? What IDE/debugger were you using originally?
If you want more ready help here, be a lot more thorough in listing
what you've tried already, what exactly your setup is, and when it
behaves unexpectedly.

I apologize. I missed your third email. For code composer, at least,
the firmware is automatically updated when you engage the debugger for
the first time. There's an update between CCE 2.x and 3.x. Code
Composer 2.x is not compatible with the 'F5xxx series. I believe IAR
has their own firmware for the FET430UIF.

the firmware is automatically updated when you engage the debugger for
the first time. There's an update between CCE 2.x and 3.x. Code
Composer 2.x is not compatible with the 'F5xxx series. I believe IAR
has their own firmware for the FET430UIF.

I found out that was wrong.
I working with MSP-FET430UIF and MSP-TS430PN80 (target-Socket). This Target=
-Socket working MSP430F43x and MSP430F2x1x only.=20
despite having the same number of pins (MSP430F5435 and MSP430F437 (for exe=
mple)), they are not interchangeable.
