When needing to provide field upgrades of MSP based systems, it is not practical (or desirable) to give a version of IAR to a technician just to flash a HEX with a FET.

Is there some software that can be used just for this? Meaning all technician would have to do is connect the JTAG and select the HEX to flash and press one button.

You can always buy something like the Olimex Isolated JTAG for MSP430, which only needs a power supply and you can flash/read/clone the devices without even needing a computer. But I think it always erases all memory before writing (meaning it erases and rewrites info segments too).
You could also make your own flashing device, but that would require a lot of work/development_time.
I think I've seen this question before in the forum. Something about how to generate a hex file with IAR, maybe? Did you search the forum?
I know some of the other Olimex JTAG dongles have software for only reading/writing MSP430 devices. Take a look at www.olimex.com. There also may be a local representative for your country (in my case olimex.cl)

Try the MSP430-JTAG-ISO from www.Olimex.com $149.00
It works with just +12 vdc, no computer, connect to target jtag, press write. Done.

hi..
did you try FET-pro430 from elprotonic?
it works well with FET programmer and spy biwire programmers, it only needs final hex soft to download, it lets you serialization fuse blowing etc....

of course it needs a laptop or PC but you can work with only d43 or hex files, no risk to accidental software change, etc

Why not simply write your application to be field upgradable. This has
been discussed here many times in the past. It requires no special
tools. Can be made more secure than an off the shelf programming tool,
and can be done without having to dedicate any I/O lines.

You can use FET-PRO430 Lite (free : http://www.elprotronic.com/products.htm=
l=A0) or MSPFET (free : http://kurt.on.ufanet.ru/=A0).

I tried boot and they work well.
