msp430f2618 - Hardy Griech - Jul 11 7:21:23 2012

Hi,

can anybody tell me, why the msp430f2618 has vanished from TIs site. At
least parametric does not show it, the direct link
http://www.ti.com/product/msp430f2618 works, but the pages of the other
device family members (2616/17/19) have no reference to the 2618!?

Has it been phased out?

Hardy

Re: msp430f2618 - Michael Dalton - Jul 11 18:33:50 2012

Hey Hardy

All the links work for me

http://www.ti.com/product/msp430f2618
http://www.ti.com/product/msp430f2616
http://www.ti.com/product/msp430f2617
http://www.ti.com/product/msp430f2619

You can even still get free samples of the chip.

What do you mean "the other
device family members (2616/17/19) have no reference to the 2618!?"?

TI's web developers have done some amazingly boneheaded things in the
past few years, and things seem to have gotten worse while they try to
integrate Nat Semi.

I am fairly sure this is the case, but if you are concerned, just give
your TI sales rep a call. I have always had excellent results when
speaking to people at TI.

What is it with web site coders these days? I mean, requiring Java
script just to look up a part?

Semiconductor manufacturers need to understand that engineers in
high-security settings may not be able to use such glitzy but unsafe tools.

Findchips shows that plenty of them are available from the usual suspects.

I was a little bit confused while writing the above. I meant (hopefully
a little bit clearer now): the 2618 can't be found through parametric
search in the "2 Series", but one can find the 2616/17/19. Opening the
produce page of the 2616/17/19 lists under "Parametrics" all the
2616/17/19 but NOT the 2618. So I was wondering if the device has been
dropped.

Fortunately "they" did not drop it, instead "they" put the 2618 into
another category, the "Extended Temp" - thanks to Marco for pointing me
to the correct place. That means (to me), that the 2618 is no longer a
member of the "2 Series", it is no belonging to the "Extended Temp"
family. ;-)

Thanks TI for alarming me (fortunately I did not alarm my boss)!

Just try and get code and designs for the c2000 parts and tools. They
tell you to download controlsuite.exe to get the documentation. It's a
wonder they still have datasheets.

My apologies, my mail was bounced (don't know why) so the post with the hint was sent to Hardy only.
