Best book for starting embedded/firmware engineering - Jason Hsu - May 30 22:55:21 2008
As I mentioned before, I am looking for a position as an
embedded/firmware engineer. I am also looking for ways I can maximize
my productivity after I get the job.
If you could recommend just one book for me to purchase, which one
would it be? The books I'm considering are:
1. _The Art of Designing Embedded Systems_, (2000) by Jack Ganssle:
2. _The Art of Programming Embedded Systems_, (1992) by Jack Ganssle
3. _So You Wanna Be an Embedded Engineer: The Guide to Embedded
Engineering, From Consultancy to the Corporate Ladder_ by Lewin Edwards
4. _What Every Engineer Should Know About Developing Real-Time
Embedded Products_ by Kim Fowler
5. _If I Only Changed the Software, Why is the Phone on Fire?:
Embedded Debugging Methods Revealed: Technical Mysteries for
Engineers_ by Lisa Simone
6. _The Firmware Handbook_ by Jack Ganssle

Slight tangent, but Hacker's Delight by Henry Warren might be of
interest. It contains a number of coding algorithms, don't be fooled
by it's title.
Amazon stock it.
