JDM, ICProg! - Mohammed Abdellatif - Oct 1 17:16:00 2003

Hi all,
I've a JDM programmer and 16f628 pic, I'm trying to program using
the ICProg, on Windows 98, and it keep on not working! I saw some
notes about pulling the RB4 to GND, but the programmer even fails to
program a common 16f84A pic! I was using some very simple version of
the propic before to program those 16f84A, but I want to make a use
of the jdm piece I've got!

Are there some settings on the ICProg to make the stuff work! Is
there any another reliable ICSP nearby, I'm in egypt, and finding a
lot of difficulties getting the WSP628 and the other recommended
stuff on the group! Anybody helps plz :) and with my best wishes
all :)

By the way, how to use the 16F628 internal osc, it's so obvious I'm
new with the 16f628 experience :)

Hi
look I using the JDM whit ICprog at 16f84a and 16f628
and working very good on win98, win2000 and Xp and the
number of the pins is the left to righ is 4-5-14-13-12
to the 16f84a and 16f628

I just started with ICPROG and a homebuilt
JDM-like programmer this week.

I found using the ICPROG "Settings/Hardware
Check" feature with a voltmeter very helpful
for trouble shooting.

First test the voltage signals on your cable
alone by toggling the MCLR/Data/Clock bits. Chances
are you'll find your not even using the right
COM port. They should go from about -10V to +10V.

Then plug the cable in and check the voltages at
the PIC pins to see if they're appropriate for

I tried to program a 16F84A with windows 2000 and ICProg. First try
was a failure. After days I found out that my COM cable was to long ,
so when i tried a short one everything was ok.

increase the IC-Prog timing delay to get my version of the JDM
programmer working.

Try increasing the I/O delay (Settings>Hardware). I had the same
problem, initially. >

Just set it up with ICProg - IntRC I/O

Check the hardware-settings for ICProg, it took me a
full day to discover that the powerline had to be
inverted.
